Expansion permits are a type of supplies which let players unlock the 23 special expansion areas containing 17 unique decorations.
They are unlocked at experience level 25.
Unlike other expansion items, the permits are not stored in the barn.
Getting permits
Unlike other expansion items, permits cannot be bought or sold.
Permits can be obtained when players:
- Spin the Wheel of Fortune
- Reach flag checkpoints in derbies
- Find them in Huge Boxes
- Earn them during Special Boat Events
- Buy them in Valley Shop
At their first appearance, they could also be obtained when a player:
- Open mystery boxes
- Reach experience level thresholds
...but these options were removed in a subsequent update.
Once players have the number of permits needed to unlock all areas, they will not get any more permits (unless and until new plots requiring permits are added in subsequent updates).
The original land that needed these Expansion Permits only requires a total of 59 permits in order to unlock all 9 plots. As stated above, once the player received enough to open all 9 plots they would stop receiving any further permits. 14 new plots requiring a total of 169 Expansion Permits have been added the December 2018 update, increasing the limit for expansion permits; players who had opened all the previous spaces once more became able to obtain permits after the update patch applied.
Using permits
Permits are used to unlock a total of 23 special expansion areas located across the road. Each plot of land requires from 1 to 15 permits to be unlocked, as well as usual expansion items (land deeds, mallets and marker stakes). I total of 228 Expansion Permits are needed to unlock all 23 special expansion areas.
